How to get your export
- 1.A Slack Workspace Owner or Export Admin opens Admin, Workspace settings, then Security.
- 2.Choose Import & export data, select the export scope and date range, then start the export.
- 3.Download the JSON ZIP from Slack when the export is ready.
- 4.Upload the unopened ZIP here. The archive is generated locally in your browser.
JSON exports containing users.json plus dated channel or conversation files are supported. Public-channel, all-conversation, and JSON single-user exports can work when Slack includes that structure.
No. The tool only converts data already present in your export. Slack plan, role, approval, date-range, and retention rules determine what the ZIP contains.
The beta preserves file names and links from the export. It does not fetch private Slack files, and those links can expire or require workspace access.
No. The ZIP is parsed in your browser and the HTML file is generated locally.
