Apple Maps does not support direct import of a contacts list or map file, but you can move your Google Maps favorites with a few steps using the Google Maps Saved Places Migrator.
What Google Maps exports:
When you download your data via Google Takeout, the "Maps (your places)" export includes your starred places, saved lists (Want to Go, Favorites, Travel plans, and any custom lists you created), and any private notes you added.
Step-by-step:
1. Go to takeout.google.com → deselect all → enable "Maps (your places)" → create export.
2. Download the ZIP, unzip it, and upload the "Saved Places.json" file to the Google Maps Saved Places Migrator.
3. The tool previews all your places — names, addresses, notes, and which list they came from.
4. Under export options, choose "Apple Maps Links" — this creates a CSV where each row has the place name, address, notes, and a maps.apple.com link that opens that location directly in Apple Maps.
5. Download the CSV and open it. Tap any Apple Maps link to open the place in Apple Maps, then tap "Add to Guides" to save it.
Tips:
- Apple Maps "Guides" are the equivalent of Google Maps saved lists. You can create a new Guide first (e.g., "Want to Go") and then save each place into it.
- If you have hundreds of places, use the KML export option instead — KML files can be opened on a Mac in Maps and the places can be browsed there.
- Places with no coordinates (common for newly added or obscure locations) will be flagged in the preview so you can skip or fix them before exporting.
