A VCF file (also called a vCard file) is the standard format for exporting contacts from any phone or contacts app. Here is how to export your contacts from the most common sources.
From iPhone (iOS Contacts):
Option A — Export all contacts at once (Mac required):
1. Open the Contacts app on your Mac (your iPhone contacts sync automatically if iCloud Contacts is on).
2. Press Cmd+A to select all contacts.
3. File → Export → Export vCard.
4. Save the file — it will contain all contacts in a single .vcf file.
Option B — Export via iCloud.com:
1. Go to icloud.com/contacts in your browser and sign in.
2. Press Ctrl+A (or Cmd+A on Mac) to select all contacts.
3. Click the settings gear icon (bottom left) → "Export vCard".
4. A .vcf file will download with all your contacts.
From Google Contacts:
1. Go to contacts.google.com.
2. Click "Export" in the left sidebar.
3. Choose "All contacts" and format "vCard (.vcf)".
4. Click "Export" — a .vcf file will download.
From Outlook:
1. Open Outlook → People (contacts).
2. File → Open & Export → Import/Export.
3. Choose "Export to a file" → "vCard file (.vcf)".
4. Note: Outlook exports contacts one at a time, which is tedious for large address books. Use the iCloud or Google method if your contacts are synced there.
From Android:
1. Open the Contacts app.
2. Tap the three-dot menu or "Settings".
3. Look for "Export" or "Import/Export" → "Export to .vcf file".
4. Save the file to your phone storage, then transfer it to your computer.
Once you have the .vcf file, upload it to the Contacts → CSV tool to convert it to a spreadsheet.
