How to find which Goodreads books are available on Libby

Libby is the OverDrive-powered app that lets you borrow ebooks and audiobooks from your public library for free. If you have a Goodreads Want to Read shelf, you can check which books are available right now — without placing holds blindly. The manual way (slow): Search each book by title in Libby one at a time. For a 30-book shelf this takes 10–20 minutes and you still miss books with slightly different titles. The fast way — Goodreads to Libby Checker: 1. Export your Goodreads shelf: - On the Goodreads website (not the app), go to My Books → Want to Read shelf. - Click "Tools" in the top right of your shelf → "Export your library". - A CSV file will download with all your books. 2. Upload the CSV to the Goodreads → Libby Checker tool at missingfeats.com/tools/goodreads-to-libby. 3. Enter your library card number or find your library by ZIP code or library system name. 4. The tool checks all your books against Libby's catalog and returns a results page showing: - Available now — borrow immediately - On hold, available — you can place a hold; wait time shown - Not available — not in your library's collection - Format: ebook, audiobook, or both 5. Review the full results and download the list when the tool is available. Tips: - If your shelf is private or very large, the CSV export is the most reliable input method. - Libby availability is per-library-system. If you have cards for multiple libraries, check each one to maximize your "available now" results. - Availability changes daily. If a book shows as unavailable today, check back in a few weeks — libraries regularly acquire new digital copies.
